Provider Staffing: FTE Breakdown and Production
For the purposes of this survey, the following definitions apply:
FTE (Full-Time Equivalent): Calculated by dividing total hours worked by 2,080. A full-time schedule is defined as 32 hours/week for physicians and 40 hours/week for mid-level providers.
Physician: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
Mid-level Provider: Physician Assistants (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioners (NP-C).
Service Line Revenue Categories
To assess how each practice generates revenue, the following primary service categories were used:
General Dermatology: Includes professional clinical services provided by physicians and mid-level providers, excluding services categorized below.
Cosmetic: Encompasses aesthetician services and physician-administered cosmetic procedures (e.g. facial fillers, neurotoxins), and related retail sales.
Dermatopathology: Revenue generated from laboratory pathology services.
Mohs Surgery: Includes traditional Mohs procedures and associated tissue repairs.
Plastic Surgery: Covers both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures involving repair, reconstruction, or alteration.
